What we do

ColVelo is the internet interface between riders and bicycle dealers. When you buy through ColVelo, you're buying from a real local bike shop — not from a faceless warehouse. On our platform, professional dealers from across the United States showcase their assortment online with minimal effort, while riders get to research, compare, and purchase from the shop of their choice.

Both sides win. Dealers gain digital reach without needing to build their own e-commerce infrastructure. Riders get expert advice, real inventory, and the ability to actually go see the bike in person before purchase. Purchases stay local — strengthening the shops that make cycling communities work.

Brands, models, prices, sizes, and colors — on ColVelo, the choice is yours. Advice and service come from the experts. The sale stays where it belongs: with the shop.

Our story

ColVelo was founded in 2014 by two friends, Henry Smith and Stephan Mercelo, with a simple idea: build a single online home for everything cycling. What started as a local marketplace quickly grew into one of the largest bicycle marketplaces in the world — today an international group with over 100 employees across eight countries.

In 2018, we launched our first global brand campaign, “Where the World Rides,” alongside the communities that have made ColVelo what it is. Since then our passion for connecting riders with the right bike has only grown.

Racing & community

ColVelo has been involved in professional cycling since 2011, when we joined as an online partner and sponsor of the UCI Pro Cycling Team GreenEdge. Over the following years, we stepped up as a repeated jersey sponsor and, in 2016, as a name sponsor of Orica-ColVelo.

In 2021 and 2022, we took on the role of title sponsor for both the men's and women's pro teams under the name TEAM ColVelo — a milestone we're proud of and a commitment we intend to keep.

How ColVelo works

ColVelo is not a store. We don't hold stock, we don't own the bikes listed, and we don't ship anything ourselves. We're the platform that puts riders and shops in the same room, with secure payments and buyer protection when you buy through our Buy Safely service.

• Sellers create listings, manage offers, ship through our insured courier network (or their own), and get paid once the buyer confirms the item arrived as described.
